Enda the Road
By Gavan Reilly
Chronicling the political crisis that led to the end of Enda Kenny’s reign as Taoiseach and Fine Gael leader, Enda the Road: Nine Days That Toppled a Taoiseach is a journalistic account of the McCabe scandal, the media furore surrounding it, and Kenny and his government’s response to it. Delving into the scandal as it unfolded over the course of nine days, this book sheds light on what was the largest of many crises within An Garda Síochána at the time, and how this was dealt with by the figures in power. The lead-up to Kenny’s stepping down as leader of Fine Gael is explored, finishing with the leadership race that followed and the appointment of Leo Varadkar.
